Events: Seminar Wrap UpOn July 23, 24, and 25, YEC International hosted our first ever Data Recovery Seminar. The event took place at the Ayres Hotel in Seal Beach, CA only a few miles from our offices here in Cypress. The event was created in conjunction with Atola Technology, with our main guest lecturer Dmitry Postrigan representing Atola. We had a full house with a total of twenty attendees. Day one was a full lecture day, starting off with information about hard drive anatomy and firmware. Next up was detailed information and step-by-step outlines of HDD startup procedures and diagnosis. After lunch we moved on to password and firmware issues, duplication and file recovery procedures, and then concluded with a data delivery and case management segment. Day two was our hands-on portion of the seminar. Each attendee was provided with one 2.5 laptop drive and one 3.5 desktop drive to work with. Attendees were walked through various procedures with their drives, starting with PCB repair and replacement, then moving on to motors, heads, and accident correction. Day three combined lecture with some additional hands-on training. The morning was dedicated to proper platter replacement techniques. After lunch we had a guest lecturer from Guidance Software who spoke about BitLocker and EFS decryption. After the lecture, there was an open question and answer forum with Dmitry. All three days allowed for many of our attendees to ask questions ranging across the broad field of data recovery, as well as receiving valuable one-on-one training and practice opportunities on actual drives. In addition to this, attendees were also given live demos of our new product the Atola Insight. Many of our attendees were also interested in seeing our newly completed cleanroom, and were offered tours daily after the seminar to see it in person. They had the chance not only to see our setup, but to talk with Dmitry who has had over two years of cleanroom experience himself. We’d like to extend a special thank you to all of you who attended this event, and for making it such a success.
